Festival of the Winds, Bondi Beach

I’ve never been all that great with kite flying. The physics and aeronautics behind it tended to evade my 9 year old self. Typically after launch, the kite would hang in the air a while but soon plummet to the ground. I’d keep running (sprinting) for more lift while it dragged along behind me. Occasionally I’d score extra airtime wherever the kite bounced off a clumpy patch of grass. Success!

Soon after, the kite spool was repurposed as fishing line. I caught my first ever fish with that — a little catfish.

Notes from the above:
- FotW is an annual kite flying event at Bondi Beach.
- The French couple were lovely people.
- Apparently film photography has quite the following in HK. I’ll take their word for it.

Sea Shepherd + Saving Whales

The Sea Shepherd ‘Steve Irwin’ docked in Sydney, adding some international muscle into the Wilderness Society’s Kimberley campaign, to save one of the world’s biggest humpback whale nurseries.
